Side by side

Same eight dimensions for both structures — outlook, risk, Greeks, capital, complexity, and the IV environment each one wants.

Greeks exposureStock-like delta (≈ +75 with calls, −75 with puts); near-zero extrinsic by design.Deep-ITM LEAPS delta (0.70+) plus positive theta from the short call.
Capital / marginA fraction of the 100-share cost, paid as a debit.LEAPS debit — typically 25–40% of the cost of 100 shares.

Best IV environmentLow IV — the structure pays for delta, so cheap extrinsic is the whole point.Buy the LEAPS in low IV; sell the short calls into whatever month is rich.

The verdict

When to choose which

Both are capital-efficient stock replacements, built differently. Choose the ZEBRA when you want pure stock-like delta with near-zero extrinsic — the structure is the position, no income leg; choose the PMCC when you also want monthly income — the deep ITM LEAPS is collateral for short calls. ZEBRA is replacement only; PMCC is replacement plus a covered-call engine on top.

Frequently asked questions

Which has more moving parts?

The PMCC — a diagonal with two expirations and roll decisions. The ZEBRA is a single-expiration three-leg structure you set and hold.

Which generates income?

The PMCC, by design — its short calls are the point. The ZEBRA deliberately carries almost no extrinsic to sell against; adding short calls to it would just rebuild a PMCC-like diagonal.

Which tracks stock most closely?

The ZEBRA — delta near 75–100 with minimal extrinsic is its entire identity. The PMCC's delta sits lower (deep ITM LEAPS ~0.70) and its upside is capped between rolls by the short call.
